The indoor pool measures 17’ x 9’. It is heated to 28 – 30 degrees C. The warmth of the water provides pain relief and improves blood circulation. It relaxes muscles and relieves stiffness. The water allows for zero impact exercise to be performed which does not put pressure on painful joints and muscles
Before each and every swim the dog is given a health check and assessed as to its suitability to swim on that day. All dogs wear a buoyancy aid and a hydrotherapist will get in with the dog if needed. Swim jets can be used for the dog to swim against to provide extra resistance if necessary. The length of the session will depend on the dogs condition, needs and ability.
Owners are invited to stand poolside to give their dog plenty of encouragement. A ramp is used for dogs to get in and out of the pool, but a hoist can be used for the less mobile dogs. The water is sanitised and tested throughout the day to ensure perfect water quality.
